“There’s nothing new under the sun”—that’s a line I heard probably a thousand times while growing up.
Elderly ones hollered, “See, we’ve done all these things you’re doing before, right?”
But my question was, “Why does evil recycle from generation to generation? What can end this generational bondage to sin?”

Every journey starts at a point.
Growing up in the late nineties and early 2000s, there were vices common to young boys.
From dashing off to play Sega games (before school closed) to stealing money for Kopiko Sweets and saving money to get Playboy magazine, we grew into many vices.
What’s more, the richest kids in the gang made their homes available for watching X-rated movies.
Our parents saw us as innocent kids, but we were exposed to what they couldn’t imagine.

I went to church with my mom, but nothing excited me about God.
Nothing remarkable was happening to me there.
While Sunday school teachers read Bible stories to us and we acted in plays and sang songs, forces of darkness had started loading us with their ways.

I noted earlier that my mind was wired wrongly because of all that I grew up seeing.
For instance, I’d never known there could be a Christ-like marriage.
I grew up believing a man gets away with anything.
A man could be polygamous and, of course, provide for his family.
While in my mother’s beauty salon, I’d overhear married women discussing happenings in their homes.
Things were rough and tough.
There were issues. They were hurt.
They remained in their marriages because of their children.
I began to despise marriage in my heart.
Don’t blame me; I’d never seen one function so well at that time.
However, I was vowing to do better as a man and husband. But can a man do better than the content of his soul?

The years flew past, and the future stared at me right in the eyes.
Sexual immorality was taking a toll on young people, and those who engaged in it grew bolder.
The decay is alarming. Parents seemed to be losing control, and the church appeared somewhat helpless.
Even those who agreed they needed help couldn’t find one anywhere.
I was a part of this rot engulfing so many young people and even adults alike.
But something happened in 2019.
A friend invited me to a youth camp meeting.
It was Singlz’ Summit. The theme for that year was In the Days of My Youth.
To say I was blown off is, to say the least.
Somehow, my expectation level was shallow. I didn’t even know what to expect. I had banked on the testimonies I heard about previous editions. I was trusting God for an impartation, all the same.
For someone who had believed God was done with my generation, I was amazed to see teenagers and young adults, and even married folks, in their thousands, yearning after God.

Not all those kinds of prayers that don’t carry eternal weight.
I’d been attending Christian gatherings before that time, but this seemed to be orchestrated by the Holy Ghost to expose the darkness in my soul.
My journey to Singlz’s Summit had begun.
A spiritual exploration had just commenced for me.
There’s a session called “Hot Seat.”

An experienced minister of the gospel is interviewed, and that gives them the chance to share real-life experiences of their walk with God.
What a blessing that has been to me through the years.

Imagine it:
An ill-tempered, rude, impatient, disobedient, and hard-hearted single brother or sister will be the same person in wedlock.
But Singlz’ Summit is a place of hope for our generation. It doesn’t matter what the matter has been.
Just come and meet the LORD.
Like the paralytic man brought through the roof to Jesus’ feet, you need to keep hope alive. That man had faith that the Messiah would make him whole, and that was it! (Mark 2:3-11).
Many young people are caught in the quagmire of immorality and can’t even imagine freedom.
Likewise, you may be scared of the future, but do you know you can live free of any kind of fear? The Word of God will detonate your fears at Singlz’ Summit.
As a young person, you should bear the yoke of learning God’s ways. However, Satan seeks to make sure young people bear every other yoke except the yoke of learning God.
