Is there hope in this crooked generation where sexual activities are now the norm?

Lust. Premarital sex. Masturbation. Pornography. Homosexuality.

And many more evil inventions, definitely from the pit of hell. Yes, many more.

And many young people are caught in the chains. Chains that wouldn’t let go.

Sexual Sin and Its Universality

We live in a world that is drenched in sexual perversion.

This is peddled through content on television, the internet, soft-sell magazines, and the media, generally. 

Young people are closer to obscene photos and videos than at any time in history. 

In just a few clicks, people can now access pages of pornographic images or videos. 

The opportunities for seduction seem endless for young people and adults alike.

But the damages are unquantifiable too.

Imagine, great destinies are being soiled. Bright lights are getting dimmer and dimmer as sexual perversions take a toll on many young people.

It thrives from within

All the sexual expressions within the soul of man were born from lust. Whatever we see manifesting outwardly, thrives on the lust that exists in the soul. 

This lust has grossly increased because of the operations of spirits in the air in our day (Ephesians 2:2).

Sexual lust is a sexual feeling that you have acted upon or responded to. 

Emphasis on “…acted or responded to.”

That is, the sexual feeling itself is not lust. And even when these sexual motions in the body were a result of what you saw, it is a healthy feeling. It is a sign that you are okay—sexually. 

The problem actually comes when you respond to or act on your thoughts. That is, you dive into that sin when you think about it.

Guilt is the power of the devil to destroy your resolve to stay pure.

Overcome sexual habits through knowledge

Sexual sins stem from ignorance. 

You are bound to that sin because of some level of ignorance that you have.

Thus, to gain victory, you must grow in understanding. 

You need spiritual understanding to even know how your vessel (body) works, based on God’s description of how the spirit and soul should work.

Here is it. 

Sexual thoughts can come to your mind, but you have a responsibility to fight them. 

You must be built up from within to disobey the demands of those thoughts in obedience to God’s standards. You have to build yourself up to guard your heart with all diligence.

You must grow in understanding to the point where you’re strong enough to reject sexual thoughts that lead to sexual sins.

The more you grow in understanding, the stronger your resolve. If the resolve to change is not definite in your heart, the pleasure of sin will be strong enough to undo it.

Speak to your soul

“Why art thou cast down, O my soul? and why art thou disquieted within me? hope thou in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.” (Psalm 42:11). 

Here, David was speaking to his soul because he wanted it to know that it had no reason to be downcast.

You should believe in your heart and tell your soul that you do not want masturbation to thrive in you! 

Tell your soul that masturbation and other sexual sins exist to waste your strength and energy, which should have been channeled to your pursuit of God.

If your heart sincerely believes it, such habits will stop. 

You need soul reconfiguration.

In addition to what has been said earlier, you need to reconfigure the motions of the soul. And that comes through knowledge. The knowledge of the truth.

Now look at it this way:

A young man meets a young lady and is dying of lust for her. Suddenly, he discovers she’s HIV positive. 

“Are you kidding me?” 

What happens?

All the bubbling oceans of lust in him will dry up. Instantly.

That information (or knowledge) puts an end to whatever sexual urge the young man has for the lady.

Did you get that?

So, knowledge is power, and you need knowledge so you can see the futility of sexual sins.

Pornography and masturbation damage your sexual orientation. 

Habits do not drop easily. This is why you have to keep on learning in order to get the resolve you need to resist sexual sins.

Don’t buy the Devil’s lies

The devil will lie to you. He’ll tell you, “See, you cannot get out of it. It’s the norm. Every young person does it.”

But you must keep fighting. You have to resist those thoughts.

No matter how long you’ve been falling into sexual sins, freedom begins with knowing that it is not the right way to live. 

To be honest, sexual sins leave pathways in the soul that can affect generations to come. But if you cooperate with the Lord, He can rewrite those laws, and such pathways will be cleansed from the soul.

Wrap-Up: Focus on your spiritual growth

It’s time to keep a heart state that will not give up the fight, no matter how deep you may have fallen. 

Rather, you must focus on building yourself up spiritually. 

If you don’t give yourself up to being spiritually built, you will be weak and susceptible to bad habits, including sexual addictions.

These books will build up your understanding as you progress towards freedom.
