Looking For the New Heaven and The New Earth (Singlz’ Summit 2025, Day 2, Evening Session)
“Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. [14] Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, be diligent that ye may be found of him in peace, without spot, and blameless.” (2 Peter 3:13-14). What God desires us to look for is the new heavens and new earth. The new earth is Christ. There is righteousness in the new heavens and the new earth and the journey into newness is from one righteousness to another. The new heavens and new earth should be looked for.
We have been called to look for new things and we should not be satisfied until we find them. Newness is a state of attainment. “Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.” (John 3:5). To enter into the Kingdom of heaven is to access heaven. Newness is by being born of water and spirit.
“For we ourselves also were sometimes foolish, disobedient, deceived, serving divers lusts and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. [4] But after that the kindness and love of God our Saviour toward man appeared, [5] Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost…” (Titus 3:3-5). We will be regenerated into newness by the renewing of the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost has the capacity to renew; He plays a progressive work of renewal inside us. The Holy Ghost will not stop renewing you until you attain Eternal Life. To be born of water is the washing of regeneration.
“And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, That ye which have followed me, in the regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.” (Matthew 19:28). One cannot undergo regeneration without water. Faith, hope and charity are waters and what spirit rests upon are waters. Water is needed in the season of Christ; waters come at the seasons of unveiling of the word. Another word for water is His righteousness and you cannot access the kingdom of God without His righteousness.
The teaching and revelation of righteousness is the Kingdom and revelation of God. It is in the gospel of Christ that the righteousness of the kingdom of God and all heavens appear. The new earth holds the righteousness of the heavens which is a different strata of the newness of heaven. The new earth is a springboard that will launch us into a higher level of righteousness.
“Hearken to me, ye that follow after righteousness, ye that seek the LORD: look unto the rock whence ye are hewn, and to the hole of the pit whence ye are digged.” (Isaiah 51:1). These are people who are seeking everlasting life/newness in the heavens. We have to follow after righteousness and seek the Lord; we cannot seek new heavens or find the Lord without following after righteousness. We will not find the Lord if we do not follow the path of righteousness. The path of righteousness is to seek His Kingdom – to seek the righteousness of the kingdom of God (Matthew 6:33).
We use righteousness to find the Lord. To find the Lord is to seek righteousness so that we can access the kingdom of God. To access the kingdom of God is to access all new heavens, which are all things new. The kingdom of God is the domain of newness. The kingdom of Jesus Christ is not of this world (John 18:36), for His kingdom is newness. When a man enters the kingdom of God, he first becomes a new creature (Christ) and as he journeys further in the kingdom of God, he becomes completely new. One cannot desire newness without seeking righteousness.
“Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow. [8] Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which thou hast broken may rejoice. [9] Hide thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities. [10] Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.” (Psalm 51:7-10). ‘Right’ here refers to righteousness. In every man, there is that which seems right (Proverbs 14:12) which needs to be renewed. Righteousness is revealed truth and these are the standards that God approves. When what pleases the Lord is revealed, it means that truth is being revealed.
It is not what seems right to man but what seems right to God that is called “truth”. Truth renews. Any truth that makes you stay with your righteousness is not the truth of God. We must follow after righteousness if we desire to seek the Lord, find Him and find the newness of the new heavens. The new heavens is where righteousness dwells. We need to follow one righteousness to follow another righteousness.
“But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.” (Romans 7:6). This deliverance is not one that occurs as a result of the New Birth but one that comes from following after righteousness and the revelation of righteousness. To be delivered from the old is by the renewing of righteousness.
Faith, hope and charity is the teaching of the righteousness of the Kingdom. The teaching of the gospel of Christ brings reality to our souls. The law is our former righteousness, which is old. Being dead is a continuous process as we were held by the former laws of hell and death.
“But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. [18] Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.” (Romans 6:17-18). We are being delivered from the law of sin and death. To walk is to serve God. We serve God by obeying the instruction of righteousness and promptings of the Spirit. In doing so, we will be renewed and made new.
“But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.” (Romans 7:6). Ordinances are written against us through serving and doing disobedience. These writings are righteousness to us, but sin to God. It is through the gospel that we see that our righteousness is old.
The letter kills but the spirit giveth life (2 Corinthians 3:6). The things written in us as a result of sin and disobedience need to be made new and we are made new by following after righteousness.
“Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter, but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life. [7] But if the ministration of death, written and engraven in stones, was glorious, so that the children of Israel could not stedfastly behold the face of Moses for the glory of his countenance; which glory was to be done away: [8] How shall not the ministration of the spirit be rather glorious?” (2 Corinthians 3:6-8). The spirit here is the law of the New Testament. The law of Christ and the law of the Son of God are spirits. We should move from the righteousness of the earth to the righteousness of heaven which excels because it surpasses the previous righteousness we have followed after. We ought to use the righteousness of the earth to access the righteousness of heaven.
A perfect man or a man justified by faith is not fully new the way God wants him to be. The newness God is looking for is the newness that proceeds from the womb of the morning. The womb of the morning and the Kingdom of heaven are the domain of God. The righteousness that can only be found in the kingdom of God is called “new heavens”.
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ…” (Ephesians 1:3). Heavenly places are new heavens that are domiciled in Christ Jesus. In the Son of God, there are new heavens and new earth and it is righteousness that is found there. To access righteousness, we use faith and climax into love. Love is climaxed as a conversion; righteousness must be crystallised as a conversation and a way of life. All righteousness dwells in Christ and they are spiritual blessings.
The earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof is the heavens (Psalm 24:1-5). The earth has its fullness which is righteousness.
