Accessing The Stratas of Newness in God (Singlz’ Summit 2025, Day 3)
“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Corinthians 5:17). A burden of newness has been opened to us. The word “if” was used in this scripture because there are conditions for a man to be in Christ.
At the New Birth, we are given a new spirit, our spirit is not renewed, but we have an old soul. When the resources for making a soul new are not made available to a man, he can carry a new spirit with the old soul for a long time.
The Holy Spirit puts some things around us to prevent the old soul from becoming bad. The negative nature of the soul is in levels: old, older and oldest. An older soul is worse than an old soul; it is a soul that can draw back unto perdition. One can be born again and yet, draw back unto perdition (Hebrews 10:39); one can be born again and die again.
“Therefore, brethren, we are debtors, not to the flesh, to live after the flesh. [13] For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live” (Romans 8:12-13). To die again is for the soul to become older.
To make the soul new is to bring the soul to the same space that the spirit is; it is to make the soul new like the spirit is. The response of the soul to the facility of the Holy Spirit or God will determine how far the spirit will go. The spirit is a new man but it must become a “newer” man and “newest” man.
The state of the spirit at the New Birth is not complete. It is the response of the soul that will determine how far the new spirit will go in the newness order, for the spirit cannot be moved up if the soul is still old.
“And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him…” (Colossians 3:10). The new man is still being renewed in knowledge because it is not perfect in knowledge. The new man is not a perfect man, that is, it has not become the newest man who has Eternal Life; the image of Him that created Him has not yet been formed in Him. This new man is not yet everlasting because the One who created him is everlasting (Isaiah 40:28).
A new creation man is not complete in himself. Eternal Life is the life of the only true God (John 17:3). The new man needs more knowledge to make him go up. As the soul is being made new, the spirit can go further to fetch more knowledge to make the soul more new. The spirit cannot be everlasting while the soul is still old, as the knowledge gap between them would be too wide.
The new man (spirit) is spiritual and can bear with the old soul until it gets to that place where the spirit is – Christ. When the soul becomes Christ, then the new man, that is, the spirit which is Christ will move further. The spirit tills the soul, hence, the soul’s response to the demands of heaven will determine how far the spirit will go. One whose eyes have been opened in the spirit will obey willfully. God is not satisfied with the New Birth, for He wants the soul to keep journeying till it can sit on the throne.
“For I will take you from among the heathen, and gather you out of all countries, and will bring you into your own land” (Ezekiel 36:24). God will begin a work of separation at the New Birth to gather and bring us into our own land which is the new earth of God. The new earth is not physically present now but it is present in the spirit. Jesus Christ has both the new heavens and new earth in Him; they are properties in His soul.
The baptism of the Holy Ghost can be received everywhere but the new man is the earth of God that the Holy Ghost falls upon. The work of the Holy Ghost is to bring our soul into our own land and to do this, there are activities that must take place. The teaching of the person of Jesus is to make our soul new, for this does not happen automatically at the New Birth.
Clean water is a recipe in the spirit. The word “clean” means doctrine. Pure water is higher in newness than clean water. Clean water is the doctrine and preaching of Christ. The idols that are dealt with in cleanliness are higher than filthiness. Filthiness is worldly lusts, but an ungodly man is older than a man with worldly lusts; such is a man that has made peace with oldness.
“For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, [12] teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world…” (Titus 2:11-12). An ungodly man is restless if he does not do unrighteousness. Such a man is a hater and an enemy of God in his soul. Ungodliness is superior to worldly lusts. Godliness is the endpoint of newness. This means a man arrives at newness when he gets to godliness.
A righteous man is new and this is confirmed in him being godly. Righteousness is life while godliness is peace. A righteous man is not a God-like man; a godly man is also not God-like but God-compatible which means God can relate with him. Peace is settled righteousness and God cannot relate with one who is not at peace. God will bring newer things to one who is at peace (Job 22:21). When God gives a godly man His things, he can relate with them.
“Acquaint now thyself with him, and be at peace: Thereby good shall come unto thee.” (Job 22:21). Acquainting is obeying righteousness and using it. Obeying righteousness is walking the path of righteousness, but you must get to the point called “peace”. When one gets to peace, good will come to such a person. “Good” here does not mean good fortune in this present world. In this present world, there is nothing good because anything that can perish is not good.
Man is not good (Matthew 19:17; Luke 18:19) and as such, his product cannot be good. To be new in the soul, one must receive clean water, which is the doctrine of Christ. One cannot have life without doctrine. The essence of the doctrine of Christ is to change one’s stand from the present world to the world to come. Real holiness is the ability to see the world to come and become compatible with it.
God operates by ordinances. Ordinances of the scriptures have to be laid and they do not change, even if other things change.
“A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh.” (Ezekiel 36:26). A righteous man is the one that has a new heart, but this is not gotten at the New Birth, rather, it is a product of obedience to the truth.
‘‘But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you.” (Romans 6:17). There is a form of doctrine that will give a heart in which Christ is formed. The new heart is obtained by obedience to the doctrine of Christ delivered to one. “Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.” (Romans 6:18). To be made free, one should obey and do righteousness. In doing so, such a person will have the new heart.
“Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection…” (Hebrews 11:35). There are different types of faith, which includes the faith of the Son (Galatians 2:20). The heart of faith is the ability to see the unseen. A new heart sees the invisible and the unseen, which is what the natural man cannot see. Faith is the conversation of the heart and the newness being declared is the newness of the world to come. The new heart makes one begin to see the Kingdom, even though it is still far; no man sees the Kingdom without the doctrine of Christ.
A new heart will reveal to you that you are meant to be better than the present heavens. The new heart is an installation of the faith of the Son, so that Christ may dwell in one’s heart by faith (Ephesians 3:17). The new heart has a conversation of faith. One who cannot see the elements of the world to come has not really obtained a new heart. A charity man is one with a new heart.
The soul has a heart and spirit and the spirit has a commodity that gives the soul a sealing that it is already new. One who has used the doctrine of Christ (clean water) is ready for the doctrine of the law of the new spirit.
“Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.” (Galatians 6:2). A new heart can be corrupted again. Christ has his law but this law will not be given until one has possessed the new heart. The “New” begins with heart – new heart for newer things, newer heart for newer things and the newest heart for newest things.
“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, [5] Doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil…” (1 Corinthians 13:4-5). Charity is the law of Christ. The natures in this scripture are new. To make a soul free from ungodliness, such should be given the spirit of Christ. If an old soul exhibits kindness, it is still filthiness. It is by obediences that one is made free from sin and death (Romans 8:2).
We do charity to become it and it is the new spirit that will make one become it. One who has embodied charity will know he has transgressed when he behaves contrary to the law of charity. This is a measure to know if one has the new spirit or not. If we do something contrary to charity and we do not regret it, then we do not have a new spirit. Sin is the transgression of the law (1 John 3:4). If our newness in Christ is complete, then we will know the spirit of Christ and the law of Christ which is at work in us.
People of God means tribe of God; the nativity of God. Thus, for one to be part of the nativity of God, it means such a person does what God does. Jesus is the express image of God’s person (Hebrews 1:3); He is the representation of God’s things. Envy and malice are not things that should be found among the natives of God.
A spiritual man is one who has come to the measure of Christ but it is not yet good enough. Charity is the peak of Christ, but there are forces of wickedness that can press us beyond limit. This shows that one can be offended in charity, so God wants to make us newer. Charity is new, but there is something newer (Ezekiel 36:26). The Church in Hebrews came to the allocation of entering something newer. The stony heart is to be replaced with a heart of flesh.
We cannot be God’s people without a covenant. It is God that makes covenant, for no man has the capacity to make covenant with God. The covenant God will make will be put upon the heart and mind. This shows that even with a new spirit, one’s heart can still be hardened when faced with a higher darkness (Hebrews 8:10-11).
A new covenant is made with facilities of a new heart and a new spirit. An old soul cannot receive a new covenant and without covenant, a people can never be raised. The laws in Ezekiel 36 are the spirit that God gives, and at this point, God begins to raise newer men. “And the Lord said, My spirit shall not always strive with man, for that he also is flesh: yet his days shall be an hundred and twenty years.” (Genesis 6:3). “My spirit” here is also God’s law. To give this law, the heart of stone has to be taken away.
God is in the business of making covenant and the end of it is for a people to arise. The heart of flesh is a meek and lowly heart. This is a heart that can receive the law of God and not strive with it. Anyone with the newest dimension of God must be dead to death. At this state, such a person can be trampled upon and should not think of vengeance. Whatever level we are at now, God is calling us higher to the next season, upgrading our soul from old to new, then to “newer” until we get to “newest”.
